ChokLit Fresh – *New Video* Diddy, Dirty Money, Rick Ross & T.I in the Morning…

Diddy goes hard once again. If you follow Diddy on Twitter, you will notice the barrage of promotions and braggadocio he releases for every project he is working on. This works well for Kaleena and Dawn, his co-stars in the Dirty Money movie. I’ve been hearing about Hello, Good Morning for a looonnggg time, but it kept slipping my mind to post on it. I can’t deny the video for the Remix, directed by Hype Williams. Adding T.I and Rick Ross to the mix (each delivering some sick flows) only adds to the appeal of this song. Diddy is definitely doing something different here as he pairs pulsing club beats with street credible (I use this term loosely) Rapper flows. Hello, Good Morning may make your favourite neighborhood thug or trapstar wanna nod his head a little harder.

Just when I started to question what Hype was doing with the simplistic visuals, he kicks it up a notch or two near the end of the video for a grand finale that makes you want to believe in Bad Boy once again! Diddy and crew shut down 106 & Park down today to premiere the video (twice) and the kids were feelin it…

Dirty Money’s Last Train to Paris will finally hit stores June 29th!

ChokLitFactory Exclusives: Top 25 Songs of 2009 Part II

So we hit you with the first 15 hot ones of 2009, and now we have the top 15. This group of songs are a bit more uptempo and more well-known songs from either veteran artists or  newcomers who broke through with a hit record. Included in the list of newcomers is Keri Hilson who rose from her role as a resident songwriter to being a resident hit -maker and artist. Melanie Fiona also made a name for herself in 2009, hoping to make an even bigger name for herself in 2010. But instead of me spoiling the suspense, keep reading the find out who makes it to number one!

14. The Dream – Rockin’ that Shit – TheDream is another artist who had a great year professionally and personally. Not only did he marry his pregnant sweetie, Christina Milian, he was promoted over at Def Jam due to his ability to score hits for Def Jam’s many artists. In 2010 TheDream will release his last solo album *tear* Love King. Rockin That Shit was the ish when it was released early last year. Heavy syths and a thumping bass complement Terius’ soft vocals. TheDream can create a melody like a beast and this song exhibits this. And if you don’t remember, the remix to this song was even better.

13. K’Jon – Oceans – Detroit native K’Jon scored a big hit with his serene feel-good song Oceans. In it, K’Jon uses the metaphor of sailing with reaching one’s goals and happiness in life. A very nice song, with some nice vocals from K’Jon.

12. Keri Hilson, Kanye West & Ne-Yo – Knock you Down – We predicted this song would be Keri’s last chance to hit it big and that’s just what happened. Knock You Down is Keri’s biggest hit to date, in North America and abroad. Alongside the Chris Robinson-directed video with guests Kanye and Ne-Yo making appearances, this song helped solidify Keri as a force in the Industry to be reckoned with.

11. Dirty Money – Love Come Down – Diddy has really been feeling himself musically lately. While working on his latest album, Last Train to Paris, he hooked up with former Danity Kane member Dawn Richard and singer/songwriter Kaleena to form the group, Dirty Money. Since their formation, the group has been releasing some really promising music, the best being Love Come Down, a homage to the Total days of Bad Boys with Kaleena providing some sexy vocals over a banging beat and a Jay-Z sample from H to the Izzo.

Butta Of the Week! Dirty Money’s ‘Love Come Down’ video

Dirtymoney

For some reason I was a bit reluctant to watch the video for Dirty Money’s newest single, Love Come Down, but I finally came around to it and I gotta say, I’m feelin this joint! Diddy and co reunite with director Hype Williams for a slick video that includes light vs. dark contrasts, a requisite dance troupe and spirited performances by all three group members. Kaleena really stood out in this clip for me; she is giving me Total circa 1998 in this video. A pure original Bad Boys vibe! Also her vocals on this track are perfect for the song – now I see why she was chosen for the group! Dawn surprisingly doesn’t do much for me appearance wise, though I am digging her vocals on this as well. Diddy plays his part as the dancing thug mogul and reminds us that grills Neva went outta style! Or something. this video makes me wanna get up and dance right quick – so Diddy has done his job! This song will be featured on Diddy’s newest effort Last Train to Paris. Note to aspiring artists trying to sign with Bad Boy: if you want your video/project/album to ever be released or to have a substantial budget, you must either join a group with Diddy or be sleeping with him. I kid, I kid!

Sweet Tooth: Dirty Money – Angels Video

diddydawndirtyDiddy has been video-blogging, twittering and just plain running his mouth about his new group Dirty Money which features Dawn Richards, formerly of Danity Kane and newcomer Kaleena Harper who is a talented singer/songwriter. After months of hyping the group up, Diddy has released a video for Dirty Money’s song Angels, which is beautifully directed by Hype Williams. The video, shot in black and white, follows Diddy as he walks solemnly through the streets of New York wearing an ominous leather hoodie. Diddy is getting his Kayne on, as he sings with Autotune and evokes some emotion with his voice. The song is ok, nothing too special, with Notorious B.I.G opening the song. This video was just released today and is getting a lot of love. I am excited to see what else Dirty Money has in store. Dirty Money will appear on Diddy’s fifth solo album entitled, Last Train to Paris. The album will reveal a ‘electro-hip-hop-soul-funk’ sound.
