Music News ROLO: Toni Braxton’s Pulse is Dead? Drake & Kayne are Killin ’em!, Alicia readies Unthinkable Video

Toni Braxton, who enjoyed much success in the early and late 90s, released her sixth studio album, Pulse, this past Tuesday. This is Ton’s first album in five years and her first she for Atlantic records after re-signing her contract with them. Pulse received a decent amount of push from her label, including 3 music videos, a racy performance at the Soul Train Awards (where she kissed singer Trey Songz onstage in front of an audience that included her now ex-husband Keri) and talk show appearances. I must say, I missed nearly all of the promo for this Project, other than the release of Yesterday, her duet with Trey Songz. I did catch up on Hands Tied, her sultry second single off the album.

Last month, Toni commented on album sales and what it means to the Pulse project: “You just want to create, but I know if I don’t sell, I’m not going to be able to make another album.” source.

Estimates are coming in that have Pulse selling 45K – 50K records, the lowest debut in Braxton’s career. Sad to hear, I am a fan of Braxon’s music so I hope this project does well.  I wonder what God we would have to pray to, to see Toni and Babyface reunite one last time…

Check out the video for Hands Tied, which I am loving right now!

Peep Braxton’s third video for Pulse, Make my Heart here.

Toronto rapper Drake leaked another track off his upcoming debut album, Thank Me Later, called Find my Love. This track was produced by Kanye West, features Drake singing and additional vocals by Kanye.

Sources say Drake has been working with a vocal coach, so clearly he is serious about this singing thing. When he performed in Toronto last April for a welcome back concert, he had sang a lot, just not so much on key… Regardless of his vocal talents, Drake can definitely write good music. Check out some lyrics for Find my Love:

I’m more than just an option
Hey, Hey, Hey
Refuse to be forgotten
Hey, Hey, Hey
I took a chance with my heart
Hey, Hey, Hey
And I feel it taking over

In other Drake news, the song he co-wrote with Alicia Keys, Unthinkable is getting the single treatment! According to Necole Bitchie, Alicia has filmed the video with director Anthony Mandler and One Tree Hill star Chad Michael Murrary. The video will air in full on BET’s 106&Park this Wednesday. The video looks like it will be a period piece, dealing with interracial dating in the 50s. Here’s hoping this video is a good one! In the meantime, check out a behind the scenes snippet below.

Not the biggest Drake fan (I know I know) but I do support his movement he’s doing it big and OMG everywhere I go I see that damn Sprite commercial lmao
As for A as always. Something tells me we are going to be seeing a lot more of her on screen?

    • I know, I have seen Toni on the blogs here and there and haven’t heard anything on her music, sadly. I will support the album. And yep, Alicia is very natural as an actress.
