Earlier this week, TheDream dropped his video for his second official single, MakeUp Bag featuring Rapper T.I. Def Jam decided to go with Make Up Bag instead of F.I.L.A also featuring T.I that we featured not too long ago. I am still on the fence about this song and video that features T.I, and actor Jason Weaver and model Selita Ebanks. Little X directed the video which tries to add some class and a storyline to the song. Upon the first few listens, I cannot see what the Label sees in this record. The lyrics sound clunky with the beat and although T.I’s rhymes fit the song well, I’m not seeing the big ‘Single’ potential. But this could be similar to Dream’s I Love Your Girl record, which I did not like at first, but grew on me immensely. You be the judge!
The Dream recently announced that this will definitely be his last album and he will no longer be making music as a solo artist. This is something we have heard before. I think Dream is getting a lot of negativity this time around and it’s getting to him. I must say, I haven’t heard much from this project that has blown me away, but I know I expect a lot more from the album itself. Below is the official tracklist for LoveKing.
Hoping to create a buzz for her upcoming project, Point of No Return, Teairra Marie recorded a remix to Drake’s Over sample and even filmed a video for the track. In the video, Teairra prances around in a sexy, white bikini on a beach in California, teasing the camera. I’m actually diggin this remix, Teairra has got a nice flow! And unlike Ciara who seems out of place rapping on her buzz video, Teairra pulls off the “I will cut you n*gga” image quite well. The video is a nice look for her too. If you are drooling over Teairra’s beach body bikini as much as I am, you can find the Chain of Fools bikini over at Beach BunnySwimwear. It’s about $169 for the top alone and $150 for the bottom…

TheDream and T.I team up for the next single, F.I.L.A from Dream’s LoveKing project. F.I.L.A stands for Fall In Love Again, as the song describes a situation where a woman leaves her man for the next one, wanting to feel loved again. The track was produced by Dream & Tricky Stewart and again sounds similar to his other Singles, but like most of his music, I am feeling this one!
There is some confusion as to who this song belongs to, either T.I’s Mixtape, F*ck A Mixtape or Dream’s current project but I’m thinking its Dream’s. Take a listen below, are you feelin it?
I guess after mostly keeping quiet while artists like Keri Hilson stole her swag had their shine, Ciara has decided to hit the naysayers back with her buzz single & video, Basic Instinct (You Got Me).
Sooo, from a Marketing perspective, this is a good look for Ciara because not only does it give her the bad girl ATL image that her fans have been craving for so long, it incites the R&B Beef, which as we learned from Keri’s attempt last year, is a great way to drum up publicity. The video showcases Ciara’s dance skills, body and budding rapping skills *cough cough* They say she been hanging around 50 too long. From a fan’s perspective, I say Get It Cici! You been gone too long. I am liking a lot of what I am seeing and hearing from her new project.
This marks the first time we are hearing some cuss words out of Ci’s mouth, which I am sure we can’t blame on Dream…
“You Got Me…Madder than a muthaf*cka,
I can’t lie, a b*tch madder than a muthaf*cka“
Also leaked recently, is another track called Up and Down. Ciara sings about how she can make her love go up and down. The vocals on this track are actually pretty good and I’m feeling the overall feel of the song. Damn, Dream & Tricky Stewart just might save homegirl’s career. Listen below.
“He love the way I ride it/ He love the way I ride the beat, like a freak-freak-freak!”
Ciara is on the Grind once again! Her label appears to be behind Ciara on her new project titled Basic Instinct. Ciara recently quipped on her album during a red carpet interview,
“When you get the record you’re going to get a really fun vibe. You’re gonna get an even more sensual side and also confident and cocky. I got like such an attitude on this record, but in a fun way. Kinda had fun like exploring and experimenting with that, so you’ll get all that in one.”
Ciara released her new single, Ride featuring Ludacris. She recently shot the video and released pictures from the set. As I suspected, the song is a certified Banger! Produced by TheDream & Tricky Stewart, Ludacris lends his vocals to the track that remind us of his features on Ciara’s Oh and High Price songs. Fans complained that they wanted more of the Goodies Ciara back and less of the LoveSexMagic Ciara, so Tricky & Dream are the best team to bring that flava out. We already know the video will be hot, so I guess we have something to look forward to this Summer after all…
What do you guys think of the song? Is Ciara back?
Earlier today TheDream attended 106& Park studios in New York to premiere the new video for his first Single from his LoveKing album, also called LoveKing. Well-known director X aka Little X directed the video with choreography either by Jamaica or Tanisha Scott (my guess). The video is set against a bright orange background as Dream acts as the center of attention. To coincide with the song’s lyrics, multiple types of women appear seductively from behind Dream. Dream actually busts a couple dance moves himself at the 1:35 mark…somebody’s been practicing!
The video is bright and fun, with some booty-popping dance moves and beautiful women. Yes, this is a typical Dream video. I am left a little unsatisfied with the video, even though I can’t get enough of the song.
Dream’s next Single will be Sex Intelligent featuring T.I. On 106&Park, Dream assured fans he would be releasing more singles and videos this time around and that he has already filmed a few videos already. Since this is Dream’s rumoured last album, I hope he releases some singles that showcase his real songwriting talent.
Ciara must be almost complete with her fourth album sessions with TheDream & Tricky Stewart because she has already filmed a video for her new single Ride It featuring Ludacris. She is moving full steam ahead with this project despite rumours that her Label isn’t 100% behind the project and Ciara had to foot the bill to record the album. Here is a real bootlegg video preview for the stans fans.
*Sidenote* Ciara may just be back for real this time, Ride It sounds hot!…Get it Ci!!
In the meantime, Ciara also leaked this track Speechless she recorded with TheDream. Some people aren’t feeling it, but I actually really like this song. We could have done without Dream’s vocals on this one though…What do you guys think?
Verdict: We like it NOW! Ciara is coming back with the Goodies!
Everybody may love Raymond, like Nikki Minaj insists, but we will have to see once the numbers for sales of his latest effort come in. Raymond Vs Raymond is in stores now. I’ve liked what I’ve heard so far from the project, but from what I’ve been hearing from fans, they are slightly divided. We will have a Album Review for Usher’s new album soon.
In the meantime, Usher has hooked up with Black Eyed Peas frontman and producer, Will.I.Am for another single for his album called OMG. This song has already been getting some major play over in the UK apparently. Caution: This is not the typical Usher jam you may be used to hearing. OMG definitely has a Euro Pop feel to it with auto tune, stadium-echoing cheering and sporadic bass. The Anthony Mandler-directed clip is the best Usher video I’ve seen yet for the project. The style, the movement and choreography is on point. My only gripe is that Usher looks either vacant or uncomfortable in the video…but he’s been like that lately. I’m not mad at Ursh for trying to get that dance/pop money since the ‘Urban’ R&B crowd has labeled him a has-been and have disowned him while they still wait for a miracle from Chris Brown…
I’ve been meaning to do this post for a minute. If you follow TheDream like I do on Twitter, you pretty much get the scoop on all of the promotion for his latest album LoveKing. He’s already shot the video for the first single, LoveKing with Director X, who we haven’t seen do much in a while… The video looks hot! Watch the preview below.
A few days ago, Dream did a live Ustream of the filming of another of his videos. The song sounds great, but I guess it was accidentally leaked because the cameraman got scolded by a label rep for streaming live video of music that has not been released yet…Oops! She then tells him to mute the sound which is pretty pointless. Luckily, the video is still up if you want to check it out.
According to his Twitter, Dream will be releasing four singles and four videos before the album drop in May. He will record the Love King Remix video featuring Ludacris April 1st. Other possible cameos on the album include T.I and Young Jeezy. Get it Dream!!
The good news is, we are starting to see a lot more new music being premiered for a year that has so far been pretty lackluster musically. The lineup of artists who will be releasing products in the next 3 – 5 months has me a bit excited. However, will these projects be any good is the question?
Toronto Native and Hip hop’s biggest thing since Bling, Drake has begun leaking singles for his major label debut album, Thank Me Later. His first single Overhas been getting a favorable response after debuting at #35 on the Billboard Hot 100. This track, Shut it Down features the LoveKing over a beat produced by 40 and Omen. This was originally supposed to be Drake’s lead single, but I am glad they changed direction. I like the song, even though it sounds like a reject from Kanye’s 808′s and Heartbreaks and Dream’s LoveHate (simultaneous reject). I think Drake needs to give us a little bit more Hip Hop before he delves into his auto-tuned creative side. #Noshade the song is hot!
But that’s just my opinion…what did ya’ll think of the song?
*Update* TheDream confirmed with MTVnews that the released track is an unfinished version.
Even though Kelly Rowland has done the unthinkable by leaving her former management team (Beyonce’s father, Matthew Knowles) to seek out management that will actually work to make her a star, I’m still not really checking for Kelly. Now, I think she’s a beautiful girl, and she has a nice voice, I just don’t see Kelly as a solo star or entertainer. She appears to be more like the sidepiece/jumpoff, but not the main chick. Feel me?
Anyways, again, my opinion Hopefully, Kelly can prove me wrong this time around.
Ms Rowland apparently stole purchased the track that Teyana Taylor was wishing hoping to use as her next single and recorded a pretty decent song with producer Bangladesh. I’ve listened to this song three times now trying to get a good feel for it since the Internets are saying this one is a Banger. Arrrgggghhh I just don’t hear it. What is the song about? Maybe if I heard it in a club with some alcohol in me? That appears to be what it takes for me to like some of the music I’ve been hearing lately…I need to stop listening to Stevie and Aretha…
What do you guys think of this song? As a small sidenote, I sort of think this song may have been better suited for Teyana *dodges rocks*
Mariah continues to work on her Remix Project titled Angel’s Advocate and the singles continue to leak. Ribbons was one of my favorite uptempo songs on Memoirs and I’m definitely feeling the remix with Ludacris and TheDream both lending verses. Ludacris can still kill a Remix like no other!
Mariah will finally release Angel’s Advocate March 30th, where she will be going up against Usher’s Raymond Vs. Raymond, among others. The album will feature all new remixes as well as duets of songs from her Memoirs album.
Since Atlanta can be called the Mecca of R&B for the new Millennium, it is only natural that it births this brand of New R&B ushered in by artists such as TheDream, Janelle Monae and Shanell. Now signed to Lil Wayne’s Young Money Label, Shanell is getting the chance to showcase her talent. I like to describe her music as Trip Pop. It just sounds new age, 80s-inspired and something Prince may approve of. Here she teams up with Lil Wayne (her rumored beau ) and fellow artist Mack Maine for Deadliest Catch. I’m feeling this joint right here! It’s sexy, fresh and different, but in a good way. What do you guys think?
