Melt in Your Ears: *New Video* The Dream feat. T.I – Make Up Bag + LoveKing trackListing

Earlier this week, TheDream dropped his video for his second official single, MakeUp Bag featuring Rapper T.I. Def Jam decided to go with Make Up Bag instead of F.I.L.A also featuring T.I that we featured not too long ago. I am still on the fence about this song and video that features T.I, and actor Jason Weaver and model Selita Ebanks. Little X directed the video which tries to add some class and a storyline to the song. Upon the first few listens, I cannot see what the Label sees in this record. The lyrics sound clunky with the beat and although T.I’s rhymes fit the song well, I’m not seeing the big ‘Single’ potential. But this could be similar to Dream’s I Love Your Girl record, which I did not like at first, but grew on me immensely. You be the judge!

The Dream recently announced that this will definitely be his last album and he will no longer be making music as a solo artist. This is something we have heard before. I think Dream is getting a lot of negativity this time around and it’s getting to him. I must say, I haven’t heard much from this project that has blown me away, but I know I expect a lot more from the album itself. Below is the official tracklist for LoveKing.

J.U.I.C.Y: Teairra Marie Remixes Drake’s Over in a Bikini, The Dream Covers Aaliyah

Hoping to create a buzz for her upcoming project, Point of No Return, Teairra Marie recorded a remix to Drake’s Over sample and even filmed a video for the track. In the video, Teairra prances around in a sexy, white bikini on a beach in California, teasing the camera. I’m actually diggin this remix, Teairra has got a nice flow! And unlike Ciara who seems out of place rapping on her buzz video, Teairra pulls off the “I will cut you n*gga” image quite well. The video is a nice look for her too. If you are drooling over Teairra’s beach body bikini as much as I am, you can find the Chain of Fools bikini over at Beach BunnySwimwear. It’s about $169 for the top alone and $150 for the bottom…

ChokLit Fresh – *New Video* Diddy, Dirty Money, Rick Ross & T.I in the Morning…

Diddy goes hard once again. If you follow Diddy on Twitter, you will notice the barrage of promotions and braggadocio he releases for every project he is working on. This works well for Kaleena and Dawn, his co-stars in the Dirty Money movie. I’ve been hearing about Hello, Good Morning for a looonnggg time, but it kept slipping my mind to post on it. I can’t deny the video for the Remix, directed by Hype Williams. Adding T.I and Rick Ross to the mix (each delivering some sick flows) only adds to the appeal of this song. Diddy is definitely doing something different here as he pairs pulsing club beats with street credible (I use this term loosely) Rapper flows. Hello, Good Morning may make your favourite neighborhood thug or trapstar wanna nod his head a little harder.

Just when I started to question what Hype was doing with the simplistic visuals, he kicks it up a notch or two near the end of the video for a grand finale that makes you want to believe in Bad Boy once again! Diddy and crew shut down 106 & Park down today to premiere the video (twice) and the kids were feelin it…

Dirty Money’s Last Train to Paris will finally hit stores June 29th!

Sweet Tooth: *New Video* Alicia Keys – Unthinkable

I was wondering maybe
Could I make you my baby
If we do the unthinkable would it make us so crazy
Or would it be so beautiful either way I’m saying
If you ask me I’m ready…

Alicia Keys finally makes good use of her immaculate album, Element of Freedom, with the video for Unthinkable. Directed by Jake Nava, it follows the story of a couple doomed to love and the courage it takes to overcome the fear and/or stigma. The story floats between different time eras seamlessly, adding to the allure of the video. Chad Michael Murray from CW’s One Tree Hill (I know my girl BSB is a fan!) plays Alicia’s love interest.

Ok, I LOVE the video! Alicia looks classic and sexy and the storyline really tugs at the heartstrings. The scene in the convenience store is the cutest! Soooo my ethnic ladies, does this video entice you to try and date outside your race, finally? Or is it just a cute video?

Still in the W(Rapper): *New Video* Drake – Find Your Love

Drake released the video for his next single, produced by Kanye West, Find Your Love. Anthony Mandler directed the clip in Jamaica with Video model Maliah Michel and Dancehall star Movado. My first thought of the video was that Drake seemed a bit out of place with the gritty background and badman theme, but I do like that he didn’ t try to act like something he  wasn’t. Movado was a scene-stealer and is extra sinister-looking in the video. I think the video enhances the feelings behind the song for me, and I’m definitely feeling the abrupt ending.

This is a good look for Drake! Oh the power of the P.U.S.S.Y…

Melt in Your Ears: Kem – Why Would You Stay

Although I have never heard a full album, I am a fan of Kem. The Detroit native has been a hit with the R&B crowd since emerging on the scene in 2001. Kem self-financed his first album, Kemistry, then after selling 50,000 on his own, was signed to Motown Records who re-leased the album in 2002. Kemistry went on to sell 500,000+ copies, reaching Gold status. In 2005, Kem released Album II, which went on to also sell 500,000+ albums, spawning the #1 Adult Contemporary hit, I Can’t Stop Loving You.

This July, Kem is set to release his third album, titled Intimacy. It will feature a feature by Jill Scott. The first single leaked, Why Would You Stay is a great song I stumbled upon. In it, Kem questions a woman why she would stay with him after he has treated her so badly, but noting he will never hurt her again. Its a bit of that grown people music, but definitely deserves a listen!

Music News ROLO: Toni Braxton’s Pulse is Dead? Drake & Kayne are Killin ‘em!, Alicia readies Unthinkable Video

Toni Braxton, who enjoyed much success in the early and late 90s, released her sixth studio album, Pulse, this past Tuesday. It was her first album in five years and the first she did for Atlantic records after re-signing her contract with them. Pulse received a decent amount of push from her label, including 3 music videos, a racy performance at the Soul Train Awards (where she kissed singer Trey Songz onstage in front of a live audience that included her now Ex-Husband Keri) and talk show appearances. I must say, I missed nearly all of the promo for this Project, other than Yesterday, her duet with Trey Songz. I did catch up on Hands Tied, her second single on the album. Last month, Toni commented on album sales and what it means to the Pulse project, saying: “You just want to create, but I know if I don’t sell, I’m not going to be able to make another album.” source. Estimates are coming in that have Pulse selling 45K – 50K records, the lowest debut in Braxton’s career. Sad to hear, I am a fan of Braxon’s music so I hope this project does well.  I wonder what God we would have to pray to, to see Toni and Babyface reunite one last time…

Check out the video for Hands Tied, which I am loving right now!

ChokLit Fresh: Lil Jon’s Crunk Still Ain’t Dead, Back with Ms Chocolate video

pic via RapUp.com

Lil Jon decided to recruit R.Kelly and Mario for an ode to the Dark-skinned chocolate ladies out there, called Ms Chocolate. Drumma Boy produced the track that will be the first official single from Lil Jon’s upcoming Crunk Rock album. Yep, Crunk Rock. The same album that was supposed to be released, what, a good 5 years ago? Remember 2006’s Snap Your Fingers? That was supposed to be Crunk Rock‘s lead single. After massive pushbacks due to TVT Records folding, Lil Jon signed with Universal Republic in 2008 and began working on the album again, with a new ‘worldly’ focus.

Now back to Ms Chocolate. Lil Jon, R.Kelly & Mario sing about how they got love for the Choklit sistas, do we buy it? Do we even care? I actually really like the production and the song is dope! The video is also decent, nice to see R.Kelly still making some appearances. Mario…something makes me want to blurt out LIES when he sings about his preference in women, but I’ll be nice.

What do you guys think of the song and video? Take a look at Crunk Rock’s tracklisting below. The album will be released June 8th.
